Clean Energy Project Highlights

A 10-MW capacity solar farm and 5-MW / 20MWh battery-storage facility owned by Marshall Solar Plus LLC, a subsidiary of Western Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, and operated by Minnesota Missouri River Energy Services. The energy provided by MSP is another clean, renewable resource in the wholesale power supply mix that MRES provides to its members.

The first community solar project paired with a battery energy storage system in Ameren Illinois' territory. The 12-MWh storage system extends the energy output of the site, enabling it to deliver power for an additional 3-4 hours beyond sunset.

A 21.45 MWh solar and storage installation providing firm, dispatch able energy support. This project was developed on repurposed mining land left fallow for years. Beyond energy generation, the project supports long-term land stabilization through managed ground cover, reduced erosion, and improved ecosystem conditions, creating a healthier environment than what remained post-mining.

This 26-MWh AC project integrates battery storage on the AC side of the system to provide flexible dispatch and grid support. Designed to operate alongside the solar array while maintaining independent control, the system improves energy management and enhances grid responsiveness. It delivers increased operational reliability, optimized performance, and long-term value through scalable AC integration.

An award-winning agrivoltaics project located in Big Lake, Minnesota. This 9-acre, 1 MW solar array was built in 2018 and first planted with a native pollinator mix. It has since also become the site of a first-of-its-kind partnership between non-profit Big River Farms and US Solar dedicated to connecting emerging farmers with land on which to grow crops.
